Diethylene Glycol (DEG)

Ethylene Dichloride (EDC)
Made from ethylene + chlorine; it's the direct precursor to VCM (cracked to produce VCM), which is then polymerized into PVC.
Ethylene
The simplest olefin, produced by steam-cracking naphtha/ethane. Feedstock for polyethylene, EDC/VCM (PVC), ethylene oxide (MEG/DEG), and styrene.
Hydrogen Peroxide
Oxidizing agent used for pulp/paper and textile bleaching, water/wastewater treatment, disinfection, and as a feedstock for propylene oxide production.
Methanol
Simplest alcohol; feedstock for formaldehyde, acetic acid, MTBE, and biodiesel; also used as an industrial solvent and fuel additive.
Mixed Xylene
A blend of xylene isomers (ortho-, meta-, para-xylene) plus ethylbenzene, derived from catalytic reforming/pyrolysis gasoline. Used as a solvent and as feedstock to separate PX (for PTA/polyester) and OX (for phthalic anhydride).
Pentane
C5 alkane; widely used as a blowing agent in EPS/polyurethane foam manufacturing, and as a solvent; also blended into LPG.
Perbutyl
A trade name (originally NOF Corporation) for a family of tert-butyl organic peroxides used as polymerization initiators and curing/crosslinking agents, especially in PVC, EPS, and rubber production.
Perhexyl
Sister product line to Perbutyl, also organic peroxides (based on hexyl peroxide chemistry), used similarly as polymerization initiators/curing agents, often for lower-temperature curing applications.
Polystyrene (PS)
The polymer made from Styrene Monomer; used in packaging, disposable products, and (as EPS) insulation.
Qualified Terephthalic Acid (QTA)
A lower-purity grade of terephthalic acid (distinct from PTA, Purified Terephthalic Acid). Mainly used in unsaturated polyester resins and alkyd resins rather than polyester fiber/PET
Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA)
Made by oxidizing and purifying para-xylene; combined with MEG to produce PET (polyester fiber, bottles, film)
Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM)
Produced by cracking EDC; polymerized to make PVC resin.
Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA)
Copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate monomer (VAM); used in footwear, foam, hot-melt adhesives, film, and solar panel encapsulation.
